Sample Sales Agreement - Female

IT IS ACCEPTED AND AGREED THAT _________________________________________ has purchased a female Poodle, Registration No. (or Litter Registration No.)________________________, from __________________________________________ for the sum of $_____________, and under the following conditions:

 

  1. This dog’s health is guaranteed for 48 hours against communicable diseases.
  2. The seller guarantees this female dog to be free from presently-known inherited defects. The seller will replace this dog with one of similar quality should such a hereditary defect be diagnosed in writing at any age by a board certified veterinary specialist. The seller also retains the option of refunding that part of the purchase price in excess of the price of a pet quality puppy if the offered replacement is not desirable.
  3. If at any time the buyer named above wishes to sell or place this female dog, they will first offer her for sale or rehoming to the seller or to a designated and agreed-upon third party.
  4. This female dog will not be sold to a dog dealer/broker, pet shop, agent of either, or to anyone who does not sign an agreement precluding such sale or rehoming of this dog. The name and address of any new owner will be provided to the breeder, together with a copy of the above-mentioned sales agreement.
  5. No offspring of this female dog will be sold to a dog dealer/broker, pet shop, or agent of either. Each person to whom her offspring are sold or transferred will be required to sign an agreement prohibiting their sale, or sale of their offspring, to dog dealers/brokers, pet shops or their agents.
  6. Before this female is used for breeding, she will be at least 24 months of age, and (Note: The testing listed here is for a Standard Poodle. Miniatures and Toys require different testing.):
    • Be x-rayed and certified free of hip dysplasia by either the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), or through the Penn-Hip Certification Program.
    • Be examined and tested as normal and free of inherited eye abnormalities by a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist within one year of the breeding date.
    • Be tested and certified free of Von Willebrand’s disease by blood test through an OFA-approved laboratory or cleared through parentage.
    • Be certified free of thyroid abnormality and Addison’s disease by blood test through an OFA-approved laboratory.
    • Be free of sebaceous adenitis by a skin punch biopsy read by a board certified veterinary dermatopathologist.
  7. This female dog will be bred only to Poodle males who fulfill the requirements in Item 6.
  8. This female dog will be maintained in an adequate enclosed area, or on leash, and not allowed to roam at will.
  9. This female dog will be taken to and trained in at least one 8-week basic obedience course prior to the age of two.
